If I could turn back time, I would do a major in psychology.

You see, as a marketer, you should first be a ‘student of markets’, not products, pricing, E-commerce, or advertising.

Those are important, but studying why people make decisions and buy is more crucial.

Here is a list of psychological triggers — that would trigger action.

Use them with your marketing sparingly.

  1. The feeling of involvement/ownership
  2. Honesty
  3. Integrity
  4. Credibility
  5. Value and Proof of Value
  6. Purchase justification
  7. Greed
  8. Establish Conviction (Feeling of guilt)
  9. Nature of Product
  10. Current Fads
  11. Timing
  12. Desire to Belong
  13. Desire to Collect
  14. Curiosity
  15. Timing
  16. Sense of Urgency
  17. Instant Gratification
  18. Exclusivity, Rarity or Uniqueness
  19. Simplicity
  20. Human Relationships
  21. Specificity
  22. Familiarity
  23. Hope

I share marketing & business stories in the pursuit, study, and act of doing them. Sometimes I share lessons in music production.
